Best of the West (BOTW) was created with Canadian athletes in mind. Following the principles found in our Mission and Vision, the tournament gives athletes high level competition while connecting them with potential post-secondary opportunities. This tournament has grown from an 8 team competition featuring AB and BC teams 20 years ago, to an elite national event welcoming 64 teams to Calgary. The name will stay the same, but the event will continue to get better year after year!

2027 TEAM SELECTION

2027 will be the 20th year that the Dinos have hosted this incredible tournament with representatives from BC, AB, SK, MB, ON, QC, NFLD & NS. To ensure a competitive format, each participating province is allocated spots for teams (*the number varies year to year), this ensures teams will compete against programs from outside of their province. Teams are invited based on previous season's BOTW result, Provincials and Nationals results, their location and history attending the tournament.

2027 BEST OF THE WEST DETAILS

• DATES: March 26, 2027~ March 28, 2027 (3 days over Easter Weekend) 

  • Competition begins the Friday morning of March 26th​, 2027

  • Last game scheduled to start at 3:30pm on Sunday, March 28th, 2027

  • 16 teams per age group (1-4 teams from each province)

• AGE CATEGORIES:  15U, 16U, 17U & 18U

• VENUES: Junior Varsity Volleyball Training Centre, Volleyball Academy and the University of Calgary

• SPECTATOR PASSES: Daily $5  |  Weekend $10 (cash and card at the door)
